Do the Right Thing

I feel that I am a pretty healthy individual. I strive to do make choices that are in the best interest of not only myself but everyone, the world. A friend of mine once said that “you should act as if your every action will effect 1,000 people for 1,000 years because it does.” I try to keep this in mind when doing things. Recycling, eating, talking to people, things I buy. I wonder sometimes though if my actions alone can make that difference. I feel that I am surrounded by many cynical, self-centered people. That isn’t bad, but it rubs off on you and that is not where I what to be. That is not who I am.

I am constantly getting razzed about not eating meat. I hear it at work, from most of my family, from nearly everyone I encounter in this wonderful part of the world. Why do I do it? Those animals where made for us to eat them. They don’t know any better. What DO you eat? I am so sick of it. Not just that but many things.

I strive to be a better person. I don’t think I will ever be satisfied in regards to improving myself and the world. I see this as a good thing. Always trying to find better ways to do things. I just wish I could find some people near me that felt the same way. It is tough living alone without people supporting your choices. I pray that someday soon I will find people around me that share some of my same thoughts and choices. Until next time…

Blogged Out

I haven’t had much to say lately. Maybe I am out of thoughts. Perhaps I am just too tired to think. I don’t know what it is. I guess that in itself is something to ponder. Soon, I hope, I will have something worth blogging. Until then…

A Walk in the Park - not quite

I just went out to go for a quick stroll in the park. I was hoping to do about 4 miles. When I started to walk down the sidewalk to get there, I felt like I was walking like Ozzy. I guess I really had a good workout this morning on my legs. I will give it a couple of hours and see if my body recovers a little. Hopefully the stager goes away enough today so I can get a little exercise.

Death in the Family

My cousin called me last night. He is closer to my mom’s age but none the less my cousin too. It turns out that our cousin passed away over the weekend. I didn’t know him that well. But he will be greatly missed. Whenever I did see him he was always a fun guy to talk to. Rest in peace Jerry.

This is getting old

When I pulled up to my garage last night I noticed there was something different. The windows looked different but familiar. Somebody thought they might have some fun and shot both of the windows out on the main door with a bb gun. It has been a bb gun fest in my neighborhood lately. Maybe G-d is trying to tell me something.

I found out from a neighbor that our cars weren’t the only ones hit. Someone was breaking windows for about a two mile stretch along the street, again with bb guns. Maybe the glass shop was looking for some extra income. Still working on the car….. now I get to work on the garage door. Fun, fun.

Bowling

I finally got to see the movie Bowling For Columbine. It only ran in Toledo for a little while. This is a documentary that you should check out. If you like stuff that is thought provoking, this is for you. Even if you don’t like though provoking movies, it is a good flick to watch. It looks at why Americans are more violent than people in other countries.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. Now I am wondering if I should get Michael Moore’s other movie Roger & Me. Both of these movies came out on DVD on Tuesday.

Regulator

Why can nothing go simply for me when it comes to this car. The glass guy was just here. He took of the door panel and then looked and said your regulator is broken. I need to get a new one before he can put the glass in. He will charge me “only” $40 to install it on the side. He thinks the part is about $100 from the dealer. My $200 window repair is quickly approaching $400. Maybe I should just have the dealer do it. At least that way I know it is done right. I don’t even know what a regulator does. It must regulate something. Just another day in the life of Adam.

Update: I just spoke with the dealer. They are take appointments for SEPTEMBER!! If I make an appointment and leave the car with them for a few days they may be able to do it sooner. That is just to do the estimate. Sounds like it could take up to a month to get it fixed. Isn’t life grand!!! I guess now would be a good time to have a second vehicle. With out my car for a few days. Decisions….

Life is a B………..

I looked out my window after I woke up this morning to see something “funny” with my window. The sun was hitting it weird. It had a crackly look to it. So I throw on some sandals and go outside. My suspision was confirmed. Some idiot broke out my window last night!! Drivers side front. I just got the clean up done. Now I have to go to the police station and file a report as well as find someone to fix the window. I think the thing that really irks me is that they didn’t try to take anything. They just did it to be malicious.

While cleaning the mess, I found out that my neighbor had their rear window smashed last night too. On the bright side, today is my day off so I can get it taken care of today without worrying about being late for work. So I am off to visit Toledo’s finest.

Clarity

As I woke up this morning, it hit me. Most people focus on one aspect or another on how to get healthier (Get Thin.) The problem is very few people take a look at the whole picture. Some people diet, others exercise, others pray. I have known a comprehensive plan for quite a while but it became incredibly clear today. For the first time I didn’t see it as separate pieces. So here is the break down.

- Food: several small meals a day, this regulation of intake lets our body better use the energy we make available. Of course a lowering of calories helps too.
- Anaerobic exercise (Lifting weights): By increasing muscle mass we increase our metabolism. The more muscle we have the more calories we need just to do every day things.
- Aerobic activity: This is what really burns the calories. The more often we increase our heart rate for longer durations of time the more stored energy we burn.
- Meditation: Often overlooked, a clear mind helps produce a healthy body and a healthy state of being.
- Water: By drinking enough fluid we let our body receive the nutrients it needs to work at optimum performance. (It also helps us feel more full.)

Each of these things done separately will achieve some results. The synergy of them all together is what will produce incredible results. By incorporating these thing into everyday life, day after day, week after week, real change will take place. By incorporating these things long term THEN you will have lasting change. There is no magic pill.

It’s getting hot in here!

I feel like crap. I had Wednesday and Thursday off and wasn’t feeling too hot. Yesterday I got to work and began to feel even worse. I got home and fell asleep watching tv around 7. At 8:15 I woke up and decided to go to bed. It seemed like I woke up about once an hour. But I did sleep (sort of) until 7 AM. I should have put my air in because I was/am roasting. I can’t breathe, my body aches and I am ROASTING. Hopefully after work today I will get some more rest and feel better tomorrow. Until next time.
