Think twice before booking the Millennium U.N. Plaza Hotel

Dave says: “In my humble opinion, the Millennium U.N. Plaza Hotel in New York plays pretty loose with customer’s identity information.”

After reading this account, I know that I don’t care to stay there. With all of the other options available, why would I take the chance. Thanks for the tip, Dave.

Don’t leave me out…

Every one else is doing it. I don’t want to be left out. Darn, only five points from being Superman. :)

Einstein’s Riddle

I saw this on digg. Seems like no one is sure if Einstein came up with this or not. According to Wikipedia it is known as the Zebra Puzzle. Whether it was Einstein’s puzzle or Carroll’s, this should keep you busy for a few minutes. It took me a while but eventually I got the answer. Email me at YippieShow at gmail if you want to know what I came up with.

ALBERT EINSTEIN’S RIDDLE

ARE YOU IN THE TOP 2% OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE IN THE WORLD? SOLVE THE RIDDLE AND FIND OUT.

There are no tricks, just pure logic, so good luck and don’t give up.

1. In a street there are five houses, painted five different colours.
2. In each house lives a person of different nationality
3. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

THE QUESTION: WHO OWNS THE FISH?

HINTS

1. The Brit lives in a red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.

ALBERT EINSTEIN WROTE THIS RIDDLE EARLY DURING THE 19th CENTURY. HE SAID THAT 98% OF THE WORLD POPULATION WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SOLVE IT.

from the BBC

Not eating meat doesn’t make you smarter, it is just something smarter people do. This article from BBC News gives you some details. Interesting

Too soon

Imagine that on Thursday you aren’t feeling well, thinking you have the flu. By Friday afternoon you know something is wrong and you go to the hospital. By Monday morning you are dead. That is exactly what happened to my co-worker’s husband yesterday. They had been married for, in today’s world, what seems like forever. Married around 18 or 19 years old and spent probably 40 years happily together. In one weekend that was taken away from her and her family.

It made me think that maybe I want to know when I will be dying. It lets you get things in order. It lets you tell people how you feel. It lets the people around you have a chance for closure. Of course then again, I guess I should be living every day like that. Whatever it takes, carpe diem.

Late night…

I got in kind of late last night and somehow I woke up ready to go after about three and a half hours of sleep. Since then I have gone for a walk in the park, worked out, caught up on my feed reading, done all the regular get ready for the day morning stuff and now I looking for more to do. My arms are trembling right now from the workout but it is a wonderful feeling that I have been missing for a while now. I am sure if I stop for too long I will hit the wall. So I better keep going…

Missing the Gang

It has been a few weeks since I have listened to a fresh Gillmor Gang. I knew I enjoyed the show, chopped in to 17 parts or not, but I didn’t realize how much Steve’s efforts fulfilled a need I have. Add to this, it feels like forever since I have heard a new CalacanisCast (a.k.a. JasonNation.) …Yes I know it has only been 5 days.

Since I started listening to podcasts in February 2005, I have through my earbuds a mental stimulation that is extremely difficult for me to find in my current surroundings. I am in need of some new thought provoking podcasts. I already subscribe to Morning Coffee Notes, Evil Genius Chronicles and ZenCast to get me thinking and about a dozen others that don’t make me think too much. But I need more. Any thoughts?

** Yes, I know links are dead, as is Office, but I still link anyhow. :)

The reason

One thing about this blog is that I try not to post stuff that is too personal very often. I also don’t like to post items that are too local to me. I don’t think very many people would be interested in things that. What I am finding, however, is that I am sensoring myself way before I sit down to post something which results in fewer and fewer posts. A really bad effect of me doing this is that I am not letting my creative thought process flow. So let me apologize now if you don’t think some of the stuff I post here is very relevant to what you are looking for. I think if I just let it flow, in the end, I could write some very cool and maybe even thought provoking stuff. I guess you could consider this my disclaimer.

I am no A-list blogger but maybe someday I will be recognized for something I do that is A-list worthy. But first I think I need a different name for this blog. Yippie doesn’t seem to fit me as well as it once did. Living in northwest Ohio and not having a tech related job, I think I have a different perspective than some. Maybe I will allow myself to share it without being overly worried about saying too much or stepping on toes. Time will tell I guess.
